Salutation Inn—2nd Jan 2011 I visited this pub as part of a group of 13 people and had pre-booked a table. When we arrived we were given a luke warm reception and put on a table in the barn part of the building but it was dark and freezing cold. The owners plugged in some oil radiators to take the chill off but you would of thought if they knew we were coming then they would of pre-heated the room. It would of been lovely to have sat at the table and not had to listen to the chef shouting in the kitchen. We had to request some tea lights to try and brighten up the dim lighting. Our food order was eventually taken and took more than 1 hr 15 mins to arrive. By this time we were getting very fed up and moved ourselves into the bar area to get a better table and to warm up. The food itself was inedible ! One burger was delivered to our table and we could not believe our eyes. The burger was about 3 inch diameter and cremated to within an inch of its life. However it was cut in half and presumably the other half ended up on someone else’s plate. At that point we all got up and chose to leave without eating. We paid our drinks bill but received no apology. I can guarantee that I’ll never set another foot in that establishment. We were trying to support a local business but I won’t be making that mistake again. David & Ros Steele
