May Festival

Well Done !

A big thanks to all the people involved in organising our first May Festival, which was held on Friday 29th April to coincide with the Royal Wedding. A special thanks to the people that kindly donated prizes for the raffle and the photograph and dessert competitions.

I was told that it was the first time the village green had been used for a village event since 1947. So we’d better arrange another one within the next 64 years !

The day started off with champagne and canapés whilst watching the royal ceremony in our own church. Thanks to the canapé providers and a great job with the TV Mark !

Then the afternoon festivities kicked off with the Maypole dancing, which was lovely to see the kids have so much fun, and followed by the tug of war. I’m sure there were some aching bodies the following day after putting so much effort into it.

There was also the treasure hunt and Royal quiz to keep you entertained during the day.

The BBQ and salads were a big hit and with the desserts from the competition to follow then everyone was sure to have had enough food.

In the evening the fire pits were brought in and the chairs and hay bales arranged around them. People then spent the rest of the evening chatting and drinking until the small hours.

Competition winners were as follows -

Photograph for under 18’s - Francis & Olivia Collett

Photograph for over 18’s - Donald Gillespie

Royal Sweet winner - Bronte Carter

Royal Sweet runner-up - Donald Gillespie
